NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER ABINGDON

NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY SESSIONS

Newborn photography is such a special moment and something that I love. Although I am based in Abingdon my photography means I will travel throughout Oxfordshire. If you would like me to come to your home for your baby photography session, I can travel within a 30-mile radius of Oxford. Coming to your home allows you to relax and enjoy the session. A home newborn session can help reduce the stress of those first few weeks. As an experienced Abingdon family photographer, I realise that it only takes a moment for this stage of a baby’s life to disappear in a flash. So taking photographs of these first few days and months helps you to have mementos to look back on as the years go by.

YOUR NEWBORN SHOOT

All newborn sessions are unique and I enjoy taking photos that reflect those authentic moments that happen during the time we spend together. Using a lifestyle approach, I will take photographs to reflect a calmness to your daily life using authentic poses and the natural light available.

I am trained to wrap babies and can bring some props and wraps for you to chose from. If you want a newborn photographs involving wrapping it is best to arrange it when your baby is between 7 and 21 days old when we can get some of those sleepy shots.

When you decided to book your session, we will plan around your due date by making a note in the diary and confirm the date of your baby photoshoot when your little one arrives. The sessions will take place in the morning and I will make suggestions before the session and we will have a conversation so you know what to expect, what to wear and I can learn about what sort of things you like. As the session is always baby-led no particular pose or routine can be guaranteed There is no rush during the newborn session which can last around 3 hours.

YOUR QUESTIONS

Is it too old for my baby to have new born photographs?

If you were unable to book a newborn session when your baby was 7 – 21 days old it is not too late to have lovely fresh photographs taken.

If your baby is one to three months old, he or she may be more alert for a lot (or all) of the session. You may not get all of those poses that are possible when a baby is in its first few days of life when they are being a sleepy newborn; but with those extra rolls from weight gain and growth we can still get some gorgeous pictures. So, it is never too late to take photographs of your baby it just means we would need to take into account different considerations depending on the stage of your baby’s life.

What if my baby cries?

Don’t worry if your baby cries, that is normal. Firstly, we won’t join in! We will go with the flow and not stress if your baby is not cooperating. We can try a number of tried and tested ideas such as playing white noise adding vibration, making sure your baby is warm, well fed and has a clean nappy.

The sessions are baby led so we might need to come to a point where we rearrange a session. Saying that a crying photograph can evoke real so emotion and demonstrate the love you have for your baby and I have found that a crying portrait often becomes a family favourite …. Who knows possibly that one classic shot to come out of the woodwork when your baby becomes an adult?
